Photoepilation: What is it and how does it work?

Photoepilation is performed using high-powered light sources. This method is based on the absorption of light energy by the pigment melanin, which is present in both the hair shaft and hair follicle. The heat generated by the absorbed light destroys the follicle.

Photoepilation is one of the most effective and safest methods for removing excess or unwanted hair.

Photoepilation is considered a versatile method due to its ability to effectively remove hair of different colors on people with various skin types and ages. Unlike laser hair removal, photoepilation works on a broader spectrum of hair colors. Hair of various colors and structures can be removed on all skin types and any area of the body.
Exception: very light and gray hair.
To achieve long-lasting results, an average of 3 to 10 sessions is required, with intervals of several weeks to one and a half months. After the first few sessions, the hair structure is affected: the hairs become thinner, less visible, and grow back more slowly.

Photoepilation offers:

  • Complete safety – uses light similar to sunlight, without harmful UV radiation.
  • High efficiency and speed – one light pulse treats an area of 5 cm². Session duration: 5 to 30 minutes depending on the treated area.
  • Almost painless – most clients feel only slight warmth or tingling.
  • No risk of infection – the skin remains intact.
  • Suitable for all skin types and hair types.
  • Permanent result – hair follicles are irreversibly destroyed.
