Pressotherapy

What is Pressotherapy?

Pressotherapy, also known as press massage or pneumomassage, combines the principles of physiological tissue drainage and the beneficial effects of massage. During the procedure, air is pumped into “high boots,” gloves, or a belt, which compresses the soft tissues in a wave-like manner from the periphery toward the heart, activating blood circulation. The circulating air affects the feet, lower legs, thighs, and, if necessary, the buttocks, abdomen, and arms. The pressure created promotes blood and lymph circulation, helps reduce swelling, and removes excess fluid from the tissues.

Benefits of Pressotherapy:

  • Treatment of cellulite: Pressotherapy helps remove the primary causes of cellulite, such as hypoxia and stagnation of intercellular fluid. It is especially effective in the early stages of cellulite, particularly when combined with anti-cellulite creams and gels.
  • Treatment of varicose veins: Recommended for those prone to varicose veins and can help prevent the need for surgical interventions.
  • Relief of swelling: Effective in alleviating post-surgical and post-traumatic swelling.
  • Improvement of overall condition: After a session, you will feel lighter in your legs, with improved mood, smoother skin, and reduced visibility of veins.

Duration and Frequency of Sessions:

  • The duration of a pressotherapy session is up to 45 minutes.
  • A recommended course consists of 10-15 treatments, performed every 2-3 days.
  • Repeat courses can be carried out after 5-6 months if necessary.

Indications for Pressotherapy:

  • Relief of lymphatic swelling
  • Fighting cellulite and excess weight
  • Removal of localized fat deposits
  • Treatment of chronic venous insufficiency
  • Restoration of disturbances in lymphatic circulation
  • Faster recovery after cosmetic procedures
  • Removal of post-surgical and post-traumatic swelling
  • Improvement of skin tone and elasticity
  • Relaxation of muscle fatigue after work or exercise

Contraindications:

  • Bone fractures
  • Tuberculosis
  • Skin diseases
  • Menstruation
  • Malignant tumors
  • Pregnancy (from the 4th month)
  • Acute inflammations and abscesses

Special Conditions:

Pressotherapy can be useful for women in the 2nd and 3rd months of pregnancy to reduce swelling, isolating the abdominal area and only treating the legs. This method is especially beneficial for those who have been advised against lymphatic drainage through other methods, such as electrostimulation or ultrasound. Pressotherapy can be combined with various techniques, such as wraps, to improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, contributing to better skin condition and reduced body volume.
